The only bright spot in the massive spending bill the House of Representitives passed today, one which will burden our children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, is that the House Republicans finally got a clue and voted in a united block against it. All of them voted against it.
The bill is horrendous. The display of gumption on behalf of the House Republicans, which John Boehner promised today on Beck, is cause for celebration. If the Democrats are determined to destroy what is left of the economy, they will have to do it without Republican votes. As Rush Limbaugh pointed out today, if Obama thought this plan was really going to cure the economy, he would be happy to pass it with only Democrat support. He wants the Republicans to give him cover in the completely likely event that moving to a Socialist economy proves to be very bad for the country. That way he can say, the Republicans voted for it too!
However, the Republicans did not, and the expensive limb the Democrat congress has crawled out on is theirs alone. And 2012 is coming.
