Tom Daschle , the former Senator withdrew his name for consideration for Health and Human Services Director releasing this statement.
“I have just informed the President that I am withdrawing my name from consideration for Secretary of Health and Human Services,” the former Senate majority leader said. “If 30 years of exposure to the challenges inherent in our system has taught me anything, it has taught me that this work will require a leader who can operate with the full faith of Congress and the American people, and without distraction….Right now, I am not that leader, and will not be a distraction.”
and Nancy Killifer, who had been named as the first Chief Performance Officer (believe it or not) had a lien against her house due to a failure to pay employment taxes for household help which included two nannies and a personal assistant.
These two join Bill Richardson as candidates for Cabinet level offices who have had to withdraw.
