The Irish are not without bias with regard to Winston Churchill. Yet this article on Irish Central.com makes a good case on two points. The British used harsher interrogation techniques that the Bush administration in Germany, in Ireland, and in Kenya. Astonishingly enough, they make the clame that Obama’s grandfather was swept up by the British and subjected to torture himself.
Did Barack Obama forget the experiences of his own grandfather? The British went into Kenya in 1952 to put down an insurection called the “Mau-Mau Rebellion.” Churchill was in office at this time, and obviously was responsible for the British reaction to the uprising.
It was an amazing gaffe, as there is clear evidence that Obama’s own grandfather, a member of the Mau Mau insurgency in Kenya, was tortured by the British after he was captured.
Recent accounts in the British press note that he was whipped mercilessly every day when he refused to cooperate.
Obviously, the Irish are not in love with Winston Churchill. However, I believe that they can successfully prove that “Winnie” would have had no difficulty using enhanced interrogation techniqes on terrorists. No difficulty whatsoever.
