Real Clear Politics links to articles from Britain about Gordon Brown’s difficulties with members of his own party, which has led to an upsurge of support for the Conservatives.
Conservative Leader David Cameron explains:
Authority is draining away from the Government.
“We have seen in the last few weeks the moral authority lost because of the smeargate emails from Downing Street, the loss of financial authority with a dreadful budget and a loss of political authority with this succession of u-turns and the vote over the Gurkhas.
“The problem for the country is that during this difficult time in a recession we need a strong and decisive government that can give leadership and take decisions about the next five years rather than the next five minutes.
“We have a Government focused on the hopelessly short term rather than taking long term decisions for the country.
“We need change – I hope we don’t have to wait a year for an election.
“We’re ready to bring that long-term decision making whenever the Prime Minister calls the election.”
A swing towards the Conservatives in Britain.
